Barry Sweetman
Barry Sweetman, Agribusiness Manager from the National Australia Bank, was motivated to undertake a Master of Agribusiness when he realized that the course content was completely relevant to his day-to-day job requirements.
“I had been looking for a challenging course that was business management and agri-related and this course seemed perfect,” says Barry. “The fact that the course could mainly be done from a distance was the real appealing factor.” The Master of Agribusiness and Graduate Certificate in Agribusiness are run almost completely online apart from two one-week residential subjects held in Melbourne.
Barry found that the main challenge of studying online was finding enough time to commit to the study but he got there in the end.
“The most rewarding parts for me were working with the other students on some projects and achieving a good result in those projects. Obviously ongoing passing projects, subjects and then the course provided the main satisfaction. The final Agribusiness Project in which I completed a report on a relevant work issue was rewarding to complete and pass but then to also gain feedback from a work point of view was great. Since the commencement of the course I have obtained two reasonably significant promotions.”
Barry found that the content of the course was really relevant to his employment and has generally benefited him greatly in his day-to-day duties.
One benefit of the course personally has been the self-satisfaction in achieving and it has also provided him with a greater level of confidence.
