Land and Environment Master of Agribusiness

Delivery Mode

The Master of Agribusiness (Coursework) is the first online agribusiness program offered in Australia. The program is delivered as students work in their home or office using electronic-based delivery, augmented where necessary by print, CDRom, audio visual and other student support services.

Students, widely dispersed throughout Australia and the world, participate in discussions and undertake group assignments. This cooperative work is undertaken using a 'computer conference/messaging' system. Students have the convenience and independence of distance study enabling them to fit study around their own schedule, while still maintaining an active role within a peer learning environment.

All students must have the specified computing equipment and an internet service provider to participate in the course. Some students have negotiated access arrangements through their workplace while others study from home. Students must have a basic level of computer literacy to undertake the course.

Study Commitments

During a study period students should expect to commit 15 hours, on average, per week to study. There are no set times for study but it is necessary for all students to "log on" regularly to participate in collaborative discussions.

Access to course notes and discussions can be gained from any computer with web-browsing capabilities, anywhere in the world. This provides added flexibility for students whose work commitments require travel.

Assessment

Assessment will normally include a combination of group and individual assignments, with a component dedicated to participation in online discussions. When examinations are required they will take the form of an open book examination, undertaken by distance.
